MONOGRAM AAC Decoder 0.9.3.0

March 15th, 2008 Posted in Free Software

Hello people,

here is a fresh new update of the AAC decoder filter. It contains several upgrades that make it work better with Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer. I’ve also added some more options into the property page so it is possible now to adjust volume and output channel mixing.

    Hi,
    Wow!
Very nice update again & a huge suprise with the filter option, just love the upmix to 5.1.
Been listening to live jazz(yeah i love that) in 5.1 from dvb-t for a hour & it’s great.

Have a small problem but will post that on forum ;)

    Regards
    Roy

    Hi Igor,

Configuration options for your decoder have now been added to MediaPortal.

    Cheers!

    Hey there,
Any idea how to get this going in Media Player classic?
I’ve got a video with HE-AAC and ive run regsvr32 on the .ax file, and even added it as an external filter in MPC, but still not audio.
Also using haali media splitter from latest Combined Community Codec Pack with h264 and AAC disabled in ffdshow config.

Hey. Hmm… not really. Can you deliver the file somehow to me so I can take a look?

    Hi

Can you please tell me which demuxers are compatible with your filter?

    Cheers

In RAW and ADTS modes all existing spliters work fine. In LATM mode the spliiters must be able to specify LATM subtype… tested with Microsoft MPEG-2 Demux, MainConcept, Elecard and MediaPortal demuxers.

I am using your decoder with GB-PVR to view DVB-T high definition TV and the sound has audible blips and pops almost like when you record sound and max out the levels is this a known problem?

  9. By Igor Janos on Apr 1, 2008

Hmm… not really. There have been compatibility issues with older builds and MS MPEG-2 Demux but I have not received any such reports since the 0.9.3.0 build.
How often does this happen? Does it only happen in loud scenes?

I have the same issue with 0.9.3.0 as Jonathan. It happens while watching an h.264 DVB-T stream with aac-latm audio, using vista HP and GBPVR. Sorry can’t give you any more info. Also has lip-snyc issues that come & go. Otherwise, its a great piece of software - without it I would be watching without a soundtrack !!

Okay. I’m in contact with the author of GBPVR so I’ll ask him for some larger file dump to test on.

I can provide some large file dumps if you have somewhere I can upload them to.

    Hi,

About the Media Player Classic issue, are these files enough for you to test? http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=34&TopicId=19328

In particular the 720p samples with HE-AAC audio from TV1 and TV2 should work fine in VLC (so you know there’s no problem) and also using your excellent codec with MediaPortal but I’ve been unable to get them to work with MPC

  14. By Nil Einne on Apr 7, 2008

Just to be clear, when I say unable to work in MPC, I’m only referring to the audio. The video works fine…

  15. By Igor Janos on Apr 8, 2008

Okay. I’ll look into it. From what I can remember, MPC uses its own MPEG-TS demux so that might be the problem. I’ll get back to you soon.

Hello. I’ve updated the decoder to 0.9.4.0 build. It now has a workaround trick that will connect to MPC demux but you might need to manually override filter preferences to make it work (if you have other decoders such as ffdshow). Once you make MPC connect, it should work fine.
